English
And the one who serves Me {and no other deity} with undivided loving devotion, breaks free of all the three Modes of Nature and qualifies to become one with God-the-Supreme. (14:26)

English
There exists a belief among certain saints who follow the concept of the Impersonal, Formless God (Brahm) that the Path of Loving Devotion (Bhakti Yoga) can lead an individual to one of the ethereal planets, e.g. Baikuntha, associated with a personified form of God, rather than to the highest state of existence, which is Brahm-Nirvāna. This verse serves to dispel this misconception. The destination a loving devotee prefers, whether it be Sāketa or Bhagawān Rāma, Goloka of Sri Krishna, or Baikuntha of Bhagawān Vishnu, is a matter of personal choice. Initially, one may go to any of these destinations, and ultimately, at the end of Creation, they may merge into the Formless God, attaining Brahm-Nirvāna. Alternatively, upon leaving the body, they may merge directly into the formless aspect of the Supreme God. It all depends on the individual preference of the loving devotee.
