भगवान के कुछ धर्मों (स्वभाव) को प्राप्त कर लेने का अर्थ है—उनके-जैसा हो जाना—जैसे 'आसक्ति-रहित' होकर कर्म करना, 'त्रिगुणातीत' होना आदि। ब्रह्मा के दिन की शुरुआत में जीवों की सृष्टि 'अव्यक्त' {प्रकृति} से होती है, और ब्रह्मा के दिन के अंत में प्रलय होता है, जिसमें सारे प्राणी वापस 'अव्यक्त' {प्रकृति} में लौट जाते हैं—ऐसा भगवान ने बताया है (8:18)। ब्रह्मा का एक दिन मनुष्यों के एक हज़ार युगों (कुछ विद्वान 'एक हज़ार महायुग' मानते हैं) के बराबर होता है, और एक रात भी इतनी ही बड़ी—एक दिन और एक रात मिलाकर कुल 8.64 अरब वर्षों ("8.64 billion years") के बराबर! लेकिन भगवान यहाँ बता रहे हैं कि इस प्रकार सृष्टि और प्रलय का जो सिलसिला ब्रह्मा के दिन-प्रतिदिन चलता रहता है, उस सिलसिले से भी इस अध्याय में दिए जा रहे परम ज्ञान की प्राप्ति के बाद, मनुष्य मुक्त हो जाते हैं।

At the beginning of the day of Brahmā, the living entities arise from Avyakta {Unmanifest Nature}, and at the end of the day of Brahmā, all beings return to Avyakta {Unmanifest Nature}, as the Lord has indicated in the past (8:18). One day of Brahmā is equal to a thousand Yugas (some scholars consider a thousand Mahāyugas) of humans on earth, and a night is equally long—a day and a night together equal 8.64 billion human years! However, God states here, on attaining the Supreme Knowledge given in this chapter, a man becomes liberated forever—he is not reborn when a Creation takes place nor is troubled at the time of a Dissolution of the universe. He transcends the cycle of birth and death for all times to come.
