There are only two explicit and distinct references to women in the Holy Gitā: one in verse 9:32 and the other in the current verse. In verse 9:32, the Lord, contrary to Vedic spiritual traditions, declares women equal to everyone else in terms of the highest spiritual attainment—Nirvāna. However, in this verse, the reference is indirect, as some of the most virtuous human qualities are described as “feminine,” offering an indirect tribute to women. It is worth noting that once women gained access to education and the freedom to step beyond the confines of their homes, they demonstrated their intellectual prowess, memory, eloquence, and determination, proving themselves equal to men. Additionally, women have long been recognized for their enduring patience and forgiveness.
