Commentary

English

Prahlāda was the son of a demon king named Hiranyakashipu. Despite being born into a demon family, Prahlāda possessed noble qualities and emotions, often referred to as "divine wealth" in chapter 16 of the Gitā. He was known for his unwavering devotion to Bhagawān Vishnu, the God of gods and the supreme deity. His father, fearing Prahlāda's devotion to Bhagawān Vishnu, tried to kill him multiple times but failed. In a final attempt, Hiranyakashipu challenged Prahlāda to ask Vishnu to save him. When Prahlāda did so, Bhagawān Vishnu appeared in the form of a half-lion, half-man from a palace pillar, and killed Hiranyakashipu, thus saving Prahlāda.
