English
Kunti was the first wife of Pāndu, the king of Hastināpur, and the mother of three of the five Pāndavas: Yudhishthira, Bhima, and Arjuna. The other two Pāndavas, Nakul and Sahadeva, were born to Mādri, Pāndu's second wife. Originally hailing from the Yadu clan, Kunti had close ties to Sri Krishna. Born with the name Prithā, she was later adopted by King Kuntibhoj, her father Shoorasena, a Yādava ruler, having given her away. Consequently, her name changed to Kunti. As the sister of Vasudeva, Sri Krishna's father, she was the "Bua" (father's sister) to Sri Krishna. This familial connection made the Pāndavas cousins to Sri Krishna.
