इस श्लोक में जो कथन है, उसकी पुष्टि भागवतपुराण में महादेवता ब्रह्मा भी करते हैं —"मैं वेदमूर्ति हूँ, मेरा जीवन तपोमय है… मैंने बड़ी निष्ठा से योग का सर्वाङ्ग अनुष्ठान किया था, परंतु मैं अपने मूल कारण, परमात्मा के स्वरूप को नहीं जान सका… मैं, मेरे पुत्र नारद, तुम और शंकरजी भी उनके स्वरूप को नहीं जानते। तब दूसरे देवता भला उन्हें कैसे जान सकते हैं! हम उनकी माया द्वारा रचित जगत को भी ठीक-ठीक नहीं समझ पाते, अपनी-अपनी बुद्धि के अनुसार अनुमान करते रहते हैं। हम लोग केवल उनके अवतारों की लीला का ही गान करते रहते हैं, उनके मूल तत्त्व को नहीं जानते।"— भागवतपुराण, द्वितीय स्कंध, अध्याय 6, श्लोक 34–37

The essence of this verse finds further support in the Bhāgawata Purāna, where Semi-God Brahmā declares, “I am the embodiment of the Vedas, leading a life of asceticism...Despite sincere Yoga practice, I failed to fathom the Source of my origin. Myself, my son, sage Nārada, and even Semi-God Shankara, honestly admit our inability to fully comprehend Him. How then can other gods claim to know Him? We struggle to grasp the intricacies of Creation brought forth by His Creative Power, often dwelling in our limited understanding, merely imagining. We sing praises of His Incarnations, yet His true Self eludes us.” (Verse 34-37, Chapter 6, Second Skandha, Bhāgawata Purāna)
