Answer
In the scriptures of Dharma and spirituality, there are many things that cannot be physically verified. Some things are also stated whose experiential verification is possible. For example, whether the earth is round or flat — it was once difficult to conclusively verify this through experience. But now it has become possible. You can go into space and see for yourself whether the earth is round or flat like a saucer. So those people or those scriptures that previously claimed (the Bible) that the earth is saucer-shaped — the falsity of those portions of those scriptures has now been proven by science.
Whether rebirth occurs after death has also become a subject of scientific research. Several psychologists have conducted personal research on this, which is well known. But the most important research is the institutional study conducted by the University of Virginia in America. This was a funded project that continued for thirty years. Over those thirty years, a great many people reported having memories of past lives — of where they had been before and what their names had been, and so forth. Of these, only the memories of children around six years of age were documented by the university — children about whom there could be no suspicion that they were fabricating their accounts. The University of Virginia documented 3,000 such cases. Based on the children's memories, they took the children to the purported country or home of their previous birth and there verified their claims — whether there truly was a child or person by that name, whether the parents had such names, and so on. This research demonstrated that what the children were saying was largely true. Consequently, the scientific conclusion was drawn that rebirth is real.
