This profoundly confidential knowledge {of Submission Yoga} should never be spoken to those lacking austerity, devoid of devotion, or unwilling to listen. It should also remain unspoken before those who criticize Me. (18: 67)
English
While "speaking" is prohibited for valid reasons, as it may not always serve a useful purpose, writing books or articles on the subject is not prohibited. Otherwise, commentaries on the Gitā would never be published or circulated. When producing written material, the writer has ample time and space to present viewpoints coherently, allowing even critical or antagonistic readers to ponder. This enhances the likelihood of acceptance in the long run. During Bhagawān Krishna's time, it wasn't uncommon for some to view him as merely a human figure with miraculous abilities, often due to envy and other factors. This perspective persists in some segments of society even today. Advising such individuals to submit to God in the form of Sri Krishna can ignite their envy and lead to inner turmoil. Sri Krishna consistently promotes a way of speaking and behaving that doesn't mentally disturb others. It may not be appropriate to interpret this verse as prohibiting the spreading of all Gitā knowledge by speaking. The verse is spoken by the Lord in the context of the super-secret knowledge of Sharanāgati Yoga revealed in the immediately preceding verse 18:66.
